Vroman’s is a Pasadena institution, a literary landmark, a community center, and a wonderful tradition.

In 2008, Vroman’s was honored with the Publishers Weekly Bookseller of the Year award. Recognized for its mission, vision, customer service, extensive inventory, and innovation, Vroman’s continues to be a model independent bookstore.

The store hosts over 400 free community events annually, including author signings, children’s storytimes, trivia nights, craft classes, and more. Notable guests have included President Bill Clinton, Neil Gaiman, Barbara Walters, Joan Didion, and many others.

Vroman’s holds an important place in Southern California’s history as the oldest and largest independent bookstore in the region.

Watermark Books & Café understands and values different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds that make each person unique, including race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, disability, and sexual orientation.

Since 1977, Watermark has been Wichita’s Home for Books. As a local business, they value their customers whether online or in the store. Beyond selling books and welcoming you in the café to meet (or make) a friend over coffee or lunch, they connect to the community through donations, in-kind, volunteer, or financial support.

They sponsor author events featuring bestselling and soon-to-be-bestselling authors. They collaborate with non-profits, schools, churches, libraries, and other local organizations that strengthen their community. Since 1996, Watermark Books & Café has been an anchor for the Lincoln Heights Village Shopping Center at the southwest corner of Douglas and Oliver.

Watermark offers book buyers an inspiring inventory, a knowledgeable and curious staff, and a welcoming café. They serve as an incubator for passionate readers and a hub for creating a vibrant book culture in Wichita and beyond through social media and community engagement.
